those rays that peak through the trees,
I know it’s you Lord.
I know it’s you because I see the same
image in my heart full of dark spots
hidden behind limbs of fear and shame,
yet when I feel your presence
your light shines into those nooks and crannies.
the shine you bring is the warmth
of the sun rising over a warm canyon
after a cold night of isolation and rejection.
beams of light anoint my head
with love from you
and fill empty places left in me
by well-meaning people
tortured by the legalism
sent by an ill-meaning enemy.
Lord set these people free
and restore my Spirit as well,
with the grace found only in those pools of shine.
