As the Sun Rises (6)

Yellow

you are a yellow God,

I think.

I say this because of the

sunshine you bring

when the world around me is turning

black like the death of night

or red like swallowed up anger

or blue like emptiness after despair.

your joy swells up like a balloon inside me,

and I feel my soul rise to where you are.

you bloom like a sunflower in a field,

growing taller than all of the weeds

that try to choke you out.

but you shine anyways Lord

because you highlight your goodness in everything

especially in stories of people like me.
